It's too much
The theory is all right, but currently we're making far too much CO2 to reabsorb.

With all the fossil fuel we are burning we use, in 1 year, more than 400 years of Carboniferous period plant matter (and that was when the world was covered with vast jungles like the amazon). There is no way we could reabsorb that amount currently.

And the ocean could be used as well (such as plankton), but that cannot 'sink' anywhere near enough Co2 (unless we used some engineering marvel we're yet to discover).

You're right that Co2 is better than methane, etc, but the vast amount we're giving off will cause long term effects since CO2 is one of the longest lived greenhouse gases. And I do think that plant growth is part of the carbon sink equation but that also requires us to stop cutting down rain forests...
