At 155 miles to a tank, it doesn't sound remotely likely that ANYONE would use this.

For you and me, you're probably right. At least for now. But the reference in the article -
Ecotality sees municipalities trying to meet clean-energy requirements, and companies with truck fleets such as FedEx, as the most likely early adopters of its technology.

Not sure about FedEx, but I can see bus fleets in large heavily polluted cities migrating to something like this. For the moment, it isn't about saving money over the price of gas. It's about pollution and the freedom from needing gas.
