Better global warming than global cooling.
Throughout history, man has prospered with global warming with an abundance of agriculture. With global cooling, mankind almost came to extinction for agriculture lands were unavailable for they were under glaciers 10,000 years ago. The global warming we are experiencing now is a recovery from the mini ice age.

During the mini ice age 1300-1850ce Europe and America had devastating crop failures and millions died. The potato rescued northern Europe especially Germany because it could grow in very adverse conditions. When used in lots of species it is great. Ireland unfortunately eventually relied solely on the lumper species, the least robust potato for it yielded the most. - Discovery Channel

This cooling and warming is mostly a natural trend taken from core samples that have been going on for the past recorded million years. The cycle warms the earth for 10,000 years and cools for 90,000 years. It is a 100,000 natural cycle. We only contribute a small percentage to it.

Instead of scaring us to use renewables, why not point out the positives like you will not put heavy metals into the air if you stop burning coal like mercury. Also, you will not put particulates in the air that is rough on all animal respiratory systems. My nephew has asthma. Another, is oil and uranium will be depleted or mined out at the end of this century. The biggest positive is energy independence so you don't have to do business with a bunch of religious wackos. Heck, I don't like dealing with the ones that are here.
