Which is too bad
Nuclear power really needs an image overhaul.

The feasibility of replacing oil and coal with nuclear power sources has really been stigmatized within the minds of the masses by accidents such as the ones at Three Mile Island and Chernobyl. In reality, these accidents were exceptions from the rule, and ongoing research into nuclear power could make them even more unlikely in the future. Not to mention that the grave consequences of Chernobyl were hugely overblown by the media: most of the casualties resulted from the Soviet system of handling such accidents, and the long-term damage to the public health and environment is widely exaggerated.

I believe that rather than putting all our venture capital and government investment eggs into the one basket of the development of experimental, renewable energy sources, we need to diversify the energy portfolio between new energy sources and ongoing development and maintenace of nuclear power generation.
