about color and flickering
The color depends partially on how much you're spending on a lightbulb - any cheap bulb will probably give you poor light, with standard bulbs usually being yellow and fluorescents tending towards green.

Standard bulbs are actually usually pretty poor, being very yellow (especially near the end of the bulb's life).

Sunlight is the best light to have. For all practical purposes, it's white compared to nearly all forms of artificial light.

One thing that LEDs won't have is that flicker you're talking about. The reason is because it's a DC device, and unlike an AC current which reverses its direction 60 times a second, a DC current stays steady. LED lights will not, therefore, suffer from the flickering effect. They will, however, need something to convert the AC current to DC (which will probably be built into the base of the bulb, much like the ballast of the fluorescents that are designed to replace standard bulbs).
