Hidden Energy Costs
Two other issues not mentioned in this article:

(1) How much energy does it take to manufacture one 60W incandescent comparable LED light source. If the energy requirements are too high, any energy savings gained from use will be eaten up before the bulb is ever used.

(2) What types of materials do you use to make LED lights? Do LED lights require the use of toxic heavy metals during manufacture beyond what incandescent bulbs use? If so, you may end up compounding the growing electronic waste problem.
