They are already aware that we don't have an inexhaustable supply of oil. Many of the patents for vehicles that use alternative fuels are owned by the oil companies (that may be why they are slow in developing), and the incentive for them to make money on them is increasing.

I think that the biggest hurdle is not the oil companies, but the consumer that has to pay a higher price for the alternatives.

AND, there has to be a huge investment in the infrastructure to support the alternatives.

But it seems clear to me that we are moving about as rapidly as possible towards the alternative fuels. I believe that in Indiana they are building the largest biodiesel plant in the country, and it would be alot cheaper to simply use a different fuel in practically the same vehicle than to change our entire infrastructure.

Maybe the question isn't "will they", but when will they. wink
