Wharton regularly wrong on Apple
B-Schools like Wharton are constitutionally unable to recognize
market-changing events like the coming of the iPod, podcasting,
and the emergence of MacOS X as a viable alternative to
Windows. They'll study them to death later and tell us all why it
happened ad nauseum. But they never are right about the
market when the "event" happens.

It shouldn't be surprising that folks pay credence to Wharton.
Their well-deserved reputation as an excellent school has, as so
often does with universities, bled over into other areas where
they have little expertise (like tech prognostication) without any
reason other than the press's need for an "authoritative" story.

Simply Google "Wharton iPod" and you'll see numerous
prognosticating "authoritative" stories that have turned out to be
plainly incorrect.

The problem is that the press, CNet included, do not verify the
reliability of their sources through research due to their need to
"put something, anything" online for their readers.
