Hello Anton, I think you are wrong...
Anton... diet (meaning the eating of the 4 basic food groups in portions recommended) as well as regular exercise do promote weight loss as well as reduce the risk of cardiovascular health problems.
The problem with Americans is very simple, they are lazy and expect everything NOW. What has changed in the last 30 years? How we eat, how we play and how kids are raised.
30 years ago we ate home cooked meals that for the most part were well prepared and not chock full of chemicals and preservatives. As children we had to go outside and either work in the yard (or in my case on the farm) or play. We would run through the streets and such, which burned calories. We ate healthy... and exercised, and for the most part we were a healthy nation.
Now it's all fast food and sit in front of the TV or the PC. Kids don't play like they used to, adults are so busy with work they are killing themselves with the lack of exercise.
My family eats home cooked meals. We never eat fast food, nor do we drink soda pop. We spend our weekends backpacking or camping (not with a Winnebago either). If not that they we are on our bikes (mountain) or we go to the beach and surf and boogie board. Our vegetables come from the farmers market, fresh. Our meat is certified steroid free and our fish is fresh catch from the fisherman's market.
My children are allowed PC time, but that is for homework. I or my wife will monitor their activities. Their PC is in the den with mine. My children are also allowed to play occasionally on the PC, by play I mean games. Otherwise it's a tool to learn with or to produce documents and photos with.
Bottom line is that Americans are getting fatter and lazier by the day. And they don't care because they also seem to be getting dumber by the day as well. Tell you what, if you haven't seen it watch Super Size Me... I think it will blow your mind Anton.
