Instead of "diet and exercise" call it environment

Pima indians live in two diferent environments; the ones living north of the border, Arizona, live "a la Americana": kids have plenty of video games and TV shows to entertain themselves, junk food, etc. Their moms don't work, most of them, and have plenty of cheap food at their disposal.

Their mexican counterparts eat grains, more vegetables, less processed foods, grow their food the old way, don't count on subsidies like food stamps or welfare, and in general are more active, specialy kids.

I don't have to point to the fact that american Pima indians have one of the highest obesity rates and related illnesses in the U.S., while the guys south of the border, on average, look like, well, like they are not well fed. But they are healthier and their family members tend to stay bonded to each other.

Consumism, mass media, excess of work, even religion, just push individual to become an eat-drink-have fun-without-responsibility organism.
