And here is another problem
The pigheaded refusal by Americans to acknowledge problems and admit fault, culpability, or half heartedness. Americans think they're these wonderful superbeings without fault that the world admires and envies. They think they are informed and free and in charge.
But you're right though: it was an attack on Americans. You'd think an article with a title like this would clue everyone in that people are too "plugged in" and don't know how to step off the train. If you were really offended, my apologies. But I think what is sorely lacking in America and American discourse today is a good healthy dose of criticism, and the willingness to listen to things that may not make one feel so warm and fuzzy.
However, you are wrong about the last part. I am addressing something. And that is the ridiculous bubble that Americans place themselves into. Americans have become too focused on sheilding themselves from reality, and so have become a kind of invalidated bunch.
