I don't find it strange at all. Americans have been conditioned their whole lives to not accept responsibility or deal with reality. This is why they are so easily propagandized and accept any kind of bullcrap as explanations for things.

"People should take responsibility for their lives and stop blaming everything that comes to mind."

A wholeheartedly un-American thing to do. I think asking Americans to grow up would make them break down and crawl back under their rocks..
