Tivo doesn't know how to innovate fast enough.
I loved Tivo when it came out. I bought one of the first 13hr units (now upgraded to 130hr). At the time, it was great, innovative technology.

Now, about five years latter, I can put together a better system with a budget PC and a TV tuner card. In those years Tivo could have added a CD-RW and SVCD support, which is perfect for 1hr TV shows. They could have added DVD-R. They could have added HDTV. And internet access. (Well, they sort of half-heartedly tried to do the internet thing.)

This company failed to learn the Microsoft lesson -- you always have to be running like your chief rival is right behind your back. Tivo should have been bringing out upgrades every year -- constantly adding new must-have features.

Instead, they're stagnant. Every so often they announce some new aliance. I've yet to see anything come out of any of these announcements.

I'll bet we see the same result from this one.
Nothing.
