It has NOTHING to do with free speech. It IS about protecting PROPERTY OWNERS rights.

You apparently don't know the meaning of the word property. What you're referring to is not property, it's a temporary monopoly on an idea. Is Microsoft's monopoly its property? Of course not. It can be taken away from it legally, however unlikely is the prospect.

Your vehicle. It's your property, isn't it? Tell me, when do your property interests in your vehicle expire by law whether you want them to or not? Never. Under what circumstances must you allow the use of your vehicle by anyone in the world without compensation nor permission? That's right, none. Now THAT'S property!

Copyrighted works, on the other hand, can, under certain circumstances, be used freely by the public without permission. If I can use it without your permission then it's not your property by definition.
