Did you think that off shoring was without repercussions?
Honestly, did you think that off shoring would have no repercussions? It's pretty clear to me that this is the start of them. I expect that there will be more, and more severe ones at that.

Honestly, why would a college student even want to get into the Information Technology field? The constant emphasis to reduce costs by pointy haired bosses that have no clue as to what it really takes to make it all function and be reliable at that. And on top of that, the ever present threat that your job will go overseas, and that you'll have to train your replacement.

Funny, the same cast of characters that insisted that off shoring was not going to harm the job opportunities here in the US are now bemoaning that there are not enough IT people enrolling and graduating in IT programs. Me? I think it's a ploy to get the number of H1B visas increased. Oh wait. Congress already passed that, didn't they? So exactly who's left out in the cold after all of this? Is it the PHBs?

You can blame congress, but they are only doing their masters bidding. Government of the people, by corporate executives, for corporate profits. So like what else is new? The bourgeois have been exploiting the proletariat since day one.
