While some will argue that U.S. is losing their technical edge, and that the U.S. education system is to blame, I won't argue that.
But the programming contest is not an accurate gauge to measure by. People who doubt this would be interested in the historical statistics and be surprised at how many successful students are not even majors of computer science.
