- "ominous sign" part duex
-
No, the ominous sign would be the lowered standards involved for students to get out of school. By requiring 3 years worth of classes to get through four years of school is counter productive to those who want to learn. If people want to drop out, let them. I say let their lack of motivation be their own undoing, not this "We care about you, so we are going to make it easier for you" liberal crap.
Sure we have some really advanced students, but not the same breed that was out and about in the eighties an nineties.
If you can't face the fact that we created technology but failed to keep up, then you need to open your eyes to what is out there.
The rest of the world is working in a team-work driven society and the US is lagging behind.
We are still stuck on our imperial standards, still thinking that the rest of the world we bend to us because we are American. This mindset must change and should change with-in five years or we will likely crumble the same as the Soviet Union.
I am not arguing about the point of working for the almighty dollar, I am as much for the reward system as anyone else. But I would like to encourage working for the almighty dollar instead of begging for it as much of society has began to do. Until a higher standard of worker is achieved, the minimum wage should not be increased. A reward should be given for hard work, not for just being present.
If you disagree with me, then look at some of the school systems and their policies towards attendence. I managed to get an extra 2% added to my grade because I showed up to my class every day on time. This did what for me? At places of work, if people don't show up, they don't get pay. They don't get a raise because they do. And if that is the only reason they get a raise, there is a serious problem with that work place, or the mentality of the people who work there.
Now was that a rant or what? - Posted by: nucrash Posted on: 04/08/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
