can spam bill is political scam
this is a bill that is a blatent attempt of the career politicians to pander to the millions affected by spammers.. the technology has been available for years to kill any email that does not have a valid non spoofed return address on it.. problem is it will slow down an emails transmission by a few minutes (horrors can't have that) and cost some funds to implement.. what the government needs to do is re-direct even 10% of the anti-drug money pit into going after the spammers and malicious hackers,, take another 10% away from the anti-drug money pit and use it to subsidise the isp's efforts to implement anti-spam technology/hardware.. the payoff is in the billions,, shows positive results virtually immediatly that benefits "all" legitimate email users.. isp's could even "rent" an email tag to legitimate businesses to identify their "legal spam",, a step further would be a tag for the home email user to identify their email as legit with simple counters and reasonable parameters it would be easy to capture unusual volume and target that individual for further examiniation and if the email was'nt legit,,say a large emailing for wedding invitations, etc.., then you could zero in for possible criminal prosecution.. its just this simple if the govt and isp's would get off their duffs and just do it..
