I've had that problem with every Epson printer I've ever owned. Nice output, terrible head clogging issues.

About 2 years ago I switched to Canon (i950). I've never had a single problem with it. The cartridges are much cheaper, cost per page is cheaper, and my i950 has sit for as much as 6 months without being used and printed the first page perfectly when I did use it.

Epson has a very, very slight edge on output quality (maybe), but from an overall user experience I'll never buy another one.
