Like I said...
...there are plenty in America who do live their lives in the same general proximity (geographically speaking) as their extended families. However, there are FEWER that do that in America than in Europe.

That's my subjective experienced as someone who has lived, worked and played in Europe for a number of years.

You have examples of Americans who live close to home their entire lives. So do I. That does not mean that it is more common, or even as common, as in Europe.

I'm not a sociologist, and I don't have stats. What I'm talking about is MY experience of living in an a society with deep cultural roots to the same patch of land, roots that Americans won't have. It was something I noticed in Europe. Yes, Americans have families, and they come together at critical junctures. However, we are FAR more spread out than the average in Europe.
