Foolishness
The answer here is NOT the OS (each has its' place). Although I would agree that MicroSoft needs to be taken down a few notches (realisticly, I don't see this happening).

This whole thing really does come down to the individual user; All the things that people do with their computers.
-there are too many children online
-there is too much ignorance on the behalf of too many users
-there is too much misinformation being spread around
-politics are becoming too involved
-let's not forget the obvious problems coming from AOL(their attempt to control everything they can-fortunitely this is failing)

Come on people! We are talking about the most powerful means of communication the human race has EVER know. While we sit here and bicker over which operating system is better, this whole thing is being mutilated and practicly taken from us all. At this point in the game, dial-up really should be concidered a "secondary" means of connection; meaning, ISP's need to stop advertising for the promotion of dial-up.

People need to "ACTUALLY" start learning about computers. This is one of (if not THE) the single biggest problems. Too many people get online without a clue as to what they are actually doing. People will submit their computers, bank accounts, records, and in fact - their entire identity to foolish notions of getting something for nothing. This is what is actually driving KaZaa and most other P2P programs. This is also what drives spam to such succesive levels. lol.....too many people don't even realise that they leave footprints where ever they go on the internet. For myself....I had to submit certain information just to be able to create this post.

This story was written by a journalist, I would be very surprised if this journalist actually knows how to format his harddrive and reinstall his OS.

Don't you people understand? The internet is what we make it---ALL OF US. From the most powerfull polition to the common man. Not everyone acts in the best interest of whole. There are certain realities and responsabilities to taking part in this. It is just quite unfortunite that there are so many users that just carelessly move from site to site.....download after download....without a care in the world.....people that are so gulable and technically innept to fall prey to what ever they are told may sound good, or feel good, or look good----never stopping to think----it just might not BE good.

The "SILVER BULLET" my fellow netizens, lies in the hope that someday (the crown jewel of all nerds worldwide) knowledge and truth might actually be concidered more valuable by the masses, and that ISP's actually get their act together and operate for the good of their customers (and I don't mean single company entities that pay them millions of dollars).
