It could be spam, anyway...
It is still spam if it is unsolicited. I mean, I'd certainly feel uncomfortable if I all of a sudden find ads in one or two RSS blogs/news feeds I usually read, that would effectively be spam. Sure the reasonable thing to do from the blogges/news source is to first hand let you know that they'll be implementing ads (before they actually send them) and let you decide whether or not you want those in your e-mail (i.e by unsubscribing).
