Executions do not simply satisfy a need for revenge. They remove from society people who are completely without any redeeming quality, such as this miscreant. And it is imperative to make the person suffer, and to let people know about it. *Not* punishing him harshly invites others to do the same thing. I want people to be terribly afraid of perpetrating this kind of scam. I want them to fear for their lives. It's only then that they will be deterred. Fear does wonders for behavior modification.
