Why is MS such a ripoff?
I think the whole security model used by Microsoft needs to change. My issues:

- Why, after paying Microsoft hundreds of dollars for their OS do we all get prompted that our configuration is insecure and that we need to go purchase virus protection from a third party vendor? Why can't Microsoft build their own virus protection into their product instead of bulding "security monitors" to ensure you've got some other solution installed? Windows Defender has proved to be useless bloatware, it's never found anything on any system I've scanned, even those with obvious infections.

- Virus protection companies have their own racket going on. Why after spending hundreds of dollars on both the new Windows OS AND virus protection are we still getting infected with "Spyware". I don't care what you call it or how you classify it, if I spend $50 on virus protection (that is a subscription that will have to be renewed in the future) I expect to be protected against ALL MALWARE. Not just certain arbitrary classicifations of it. What a scam.

Would anybody at all be running Ubuntu if it required you to puchase third party software just to make it safe to use? I doubt it.

C'mon MS get your crap together. You're still suffering from problems that cropped up in Windows 3.11 While Windows 7 has some nice features, I won't be really impressed until the security concerns I've outlined above have been addressed, without making users pay more money just to make their computer safe.
