We can't afford that

Most LAN parties or at least the ones that I direct or non-profit entities. We only spend money we get on the bare essentials. We aren't out to make a profit, we only want to get together away from our regular headaches of work and family, then have some fun playing the game.

And yes, you are right about piracy, it is a problem, but then again, I know not everyone can rush out to the store and buy the game at the same time. Some can, some have to wait. Most people are honest and will go buy a copy when they can. Some don't. I don't particularly like to hang out with that crowd.

As for Starcraft. It's getting very dated. Some of the Vista Machines have trouble with it. Wide Screen monitors are not that friendly with it. Problems are starting to creep up. It's a good game, but some of us need a refresh.

I am upset that I have to struggle to authenticate with some server on the far side of who knows where because some jackball decides him and his friends need to raid in WoW and hoses the SC2/Steam/Games for Windows Live player.

I run into this crap enough now, I really don't care to have to put up with it from Blizzard as well. Yes, WoW has 13 million subscribers and falling. Good job, you killed the LAN party, thank you so very much.
