RE: Intel urges SMEs: Don't delay PC refresh
So now Intel is telling us: "Hey... you need to buy new stuff... it doesn't matter that our x86 architecture hasn't evolved in ages, we added x64 (after AMD force us to do so".

Intel and Microsoft don't get it. People started preferring Atom's with Windows XP 'cause they see no real advancements in PC using Core 2 Duo and Vista. Aside from overclocking gamers, plain old VB6 apps ran no faster in that combination, and some don't run at all.

SMEs and Big Companies are now fed up with Intel's and Microsoft's upgrade crazy which has amounted to zip after more than 8 years (since Windows 2000).

My message to M&I. Bite the bullet in this Big Recession. Stop bullying companies to upgrade. Stop all the FUD of malware/viruses bigger on XP, which is nonesense (Vista/7 are just as vulnerable).

Make sensible decisions or people will ditch you, just as they ditched mainframes and minis, in favor of PC's. Start making Atom-based systems with "Windows Business Compatible" OS (based on Windows XP Embedded), and keep the Vista/7 push only in Adamo/Voodoo-style PCs with quad-cores.

Or else, you're gonna regret it. Just ask Digital and its OpenVMS push (using Alpha).
