What a load of rubbish. Since when does a computer cost to repair in the first year - isn't it under warranty? Why does the age of your computer affect your chance of getting a virus?

I am using a 9 year old Apple PowerBook and it hasn't cost me anything in the years I have had it to keep it running, nor has the hard drive failed in that time.

My kids have older PCs running XP and these haven't gotten infected just because they are not running the latest OS. Microsoft are still releasing updates and patches for it.

This whole article is a pile of rubbish to get people to buy more computers quicker and it doesn't do a very good job of hiding it either with feeble statistics and reasoning.
