Amazing what the miss-use of statistical data can accomplish. My first thought was the same as most of the other responders. Most of us with enterprise operations exp. know that the longer a system operates in a production environment, the more vulnerable it becomes. Unauthorized applications get installed, patches are missed here and there, outdated software, etc.

Facilities with a serious security program will implement a mandatory software refresh every 90 days - or even more frequently if the systems involve classified data. That's software...as in NOT hardware. I would love to see Intel's detailed explanation of exactly how and to what extent a hardware refresh will improve my security posture - cuz i'm not seeing it.

Unless...perhaps they're concerned about firmware exploits injected in the supply chain? Ooouuu....that would be bad.
