Are you qualified to opine on this matter? I mean, living in Ireland et al? Talking to people across the pond is not enough.

It's one thing if companies decide to move work outside the country but in my mind it's quite another to import foreigners and undercut the local salary rates. With the economy here as difficult as it has been, even your figre of 3.7% seems TOO HIGH.

While I currently find myself employed, I've had two lengthy stretches of unemployment in the last two years.

I am an incredibly motivated individual. I spent 2-1/2 years within Microsoft in the past and in 1999 moved over to the LINUX camp. Nowadays I reside back in my native Chicago but even with my resume I have been stunned at how incredibly difficult it has been to land work. I would have been hard pressed to see this a few years ago.

Sorry, bloke, no sympathies from me.
