Not everything works in win7 right now
I have been testing Win 7 since the beta
release and now with the RC. I love it and also
think it needs improvements. First off I have
it on two home computers one in a 6 month old
desktop which built myself. I am running 64 bit
since I have 9 GB of Ram between video card and
on board RAM so just that only needs it.
Everything so far seems to work fine with this
PC very fast and responsive no problems (yet)
on the other hand I have my 2 year old laptop
(which is vista compatible says so right on the
sticker) and it will NOT load devices and
printers. So unless I make my printer a
networked printer then I can even get the tool
up so I can install one. So no I would not as a
CIO upgrade to Windows seven in my network
unless it was all new hardware, and after we
made sure all of our d-base and old vb app
still work. I also like the virtual machine
with XP but it takes a lot of muscle to work,
my home desktop takes awhile to run it I dont
think pc in house will be that powerful.
Besides you need hardware assited
virtualazation and since my company loves dell
for some reason I have yet to see it on their
budget desktop yet. (just bought 4 new desktop
with XP/vista no VM assist now what?)
