Someone moved your cheese..?
"See you in another two years when you rewrite this article - again."

Things change, the goal posts move, and this article will have to continue to be written - if only to keep up the "conversion" rate over to the light side.

"Well, the two applications that are mature, that is. Same as two years ago.

There is "mature" and then MATURE.. take Office 07 - which is overmature.. previous versions were perfectly adequate. Whereas OO and Firefox are now superior in most ways.

But by definition, nothing is ever complete in the application world.

" "Security issues plague Windows"
. . . and have been since the dawn of time. Truth be told, people aren't buying based on security."

Yes, but everyone now reluctantly admits they need to shell out $$ for proper protection on MS. And not having to do this on *nix is a big selling point for additional workstations in my experience.

" "Computing heads for the clouds"
On ZDNet at least. I dunno about the rest of the world."

I have NO hard discs storage, I am completely 'cloudified', its so much easier (and I'm proud of it:) I've got past the collect-more-and-more mentality. (OK, I do keep 4GB of tools on my usb drive;)
And my computing power requirements have decreased significantly (whilst I can still keep 25 tabs open for three weeks in Firefox without my OS crashing!)

As for stupid names - well BING must take the cake!!!

Command lines: at least it's there if required, although the end user can be locked away from it completely once there system is setup and working.

Games. PAH. Who's go time
