I've seen this story before.

"Over the years, the question 'is Linux ready for the desktop' has been raised time and time again, and countless articles have been written about the strengths and weaknesses of this operating system."

You got that right. See you in another two years when you rewrite this article - again.

"Open source applications reach maturity"

Well, the two applications that are mature, that is. Same as two years ago.

"Linux preloads on PCs increase"

Thanks to netbooks, which had Linux - for about a month.

"Netbook and Thin Client growth leads to Linux surge"

. . . and wanes when Windows becomes available for them.

"Security issues plague Windows"

. . . and have been since the dawn of time. Truth be told, people aren't buying based on security.

"Computing heads for the clouds"

On ZDNet at least. I dunno about the rest of the world.

Frankly, ZDNet's heads are in the clouds more than the real world is heading for the clouds . . .
