It's not just a matter of switching OS' to avoid this Gumblar attack. The deeper issue is...is it really worth continuing to use and OS that is so darn susceptible to malicious activity? I switched to using Ubuntu some years ago although I do dual boot and use Vista on occasion when I need to use certain Photoshop filters...but that is maybe 1% of the time. I daresay, most home/casual users can use an alternative OS such as OSX or Linux without any usability impact....I have switched several people to using Ubuntu and they love it and are relieved at the stability of Linux and lack of frustration they felt with Windows and all the malware. The bottom line is that a good majority of people would be very pleased with the alternatives if they only knew they had alternatives and if they would try them out.
