RE: Ubuntu 9.04 installation (First look: Ubuntu 9.04)
I have been using Ubuntu 8.10 for a few months now (keen to try 9.04 a.s.a.p), and would like to point out that you could include about another 50 more screenshots of impressive features that have really surprised me, like having Bluetooth, WiFi, USB external devices all working with almost no additional driver installation at all. Every time I rebuilt my laptop with Windows I had to install about 20 additional drivers from a secondary OEM driver disk, just to get sound, network adapters, etc and a decent video resolution. To get my HP printer working in Windows requires an installation CD which installs very irritating background tasks which are full of bugs that result in 100% CPU usage at times. When I plugged the same HP printer into Ubuntu, it was instantly recognized and functional without any rebooting, and... wait for this... if I cancel a print job, it goes away immediately, instead of the whole printer queue becoming unstable and the printer spitting out garbage after you cycle the power. 3 thousand cheers for free software. And if all you care about is "sex appeal", good for you... go ahead and have hundreds of ActiveXs and DLLs slowing down your system without asking your permission, that's your business, enjoy it happy
