Actually, the FAT file system creates no end of problems, and there are
much better free and open file systems that could be used. The problem is the monopoly, and the fact that 99% of the USB flash sticks floating around are FAT32. If TomTom does not support that, then it would be extremely difficult for customers to load new maps onto the devices.

And, of course MS is not about to help fix the mess, they love being able to rattle their sabers and threaten people over tired old junk technology. With MS help, we could move the industry to a much better standard that was completely free and open.

Hope you can see how tired old greedy companies block innovation and keep customers from benefiting new innovations, at the same time forcing them to pay more money for inferior technology.
