RE: Terrafugia's flying car flies)
The best comment here is by a pilot, of course.

This craft has nothing in common at all with the "bolt-on-wings car/plane" developed years ago. The fold-up wings are an astounding concept, and the real predecessors of this vehicle are the WWII naval carier aircraft.

And I'd suggest you read up on the requirements (and cost)of attaining a pilot's license before suggesting that tons of "reckless and incompetent" pilots wil take to the air if this vehicle ever is mass produced.

Oh, and buzz the treetops and see how fast you...

a. Lose your pilot's license
b. "Land" in jail (ouch! Please forgive the pun)

This is NOT George Jetson's everyman city car.

This would be fantastic to own if you lived in the country, or in a residential community built around a small airport, or even as a way to park many more aircraft inside airport hangers for a fraction of the current high cost.

And pilots rarely make the huge investment in owning personal aircraft and them DON'T fly them. So the "sitting-in-the-garage-decaying" scenario is fantasy.

This is very much a viable project (technologically and financially) firmly based in reality. You just have to fully grasp reality, and place this in its proper context.

Happy (vapor) Trails
