Why do people keep saying this is the first?
There have been flying cars which were basically very similar to this one for a LONG time. I remember seeing similar designs being flown when I was a kid, 4 decades ago. Just check Wikipedia or old issues of Popular Science.

This seems to be a waste of MIT talent creating a rehash of a really old idea. Folding wings on a fuselage which is road ready is not an innovative design. It is also not a popular design. None of the many previous versions of this concept ever sold worth a crap.

Now, if this was an NHTSA-approved VTOL craft that fit in a normal single-car or parking garage and landed in a normal-sized parking space, it would be something cool. This is just old news for a slow news day.
