Last Image: "The Mid-Atlantic Ridge forms a nearly continuous mountain range that is more than 36,000 miles long." Err, no. Decimal point slippage? I'd believe 3,600 miles; that's still a very long ridge!

n.b. The Earth's radius ≈ 3,950 to 3,963 miles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earth_radius) ≈ 4K miles, making an arc from north to south pole = π*d/2 = π*r ≈ π*4K ≈ 12,400 miles.
