Apple doesn't own multitouch
If memory serves correct, I recall seeing prototypes of the Microsoft Table in action before Apple even had the iPhone on the drawing board.

I distinctly remember seeing video clips of some guy resizing photos and using multi-touch type controls.

The US really rocks when it comes to it's own invention of 'the patent system', a means to keep any good technology from reaching the masses. Way to go!
