competition rules
Surely if Apple are the only people allowed to produce multi-touch phones it will be against rules of fair competition. It is so radically different from ordinary touch and will no doubt have many potential applications when it develops that it would be totally unfair to disallow other producers from using it. People who wanted a multi touch phone would be forced to go to Apple who could then charge much higher sums than is fair simply because it would have no competitors on its level.
