So what is compelling about IE8?

So what is compelling about IE8? Is it faster, does it require less memory, is it more reliable, is it more safe, is it compatable. I am not being sarcastic. I see eye candy but even in this article it notes that it is awkward to use some of the "features".I have been in IT for 30 years and I really have come to the point that I need something compelling before I "Update". "New and Improved" just do not cut it anymore.
