- Americans should move up the ladder
-
Why are Americans so wealthy?
It is because the Dollar is in high demand. An average American makes $20 an hour, but with that
$20 you can buy stuff made by someone in China that may have took him a couple of days to make.
What is the reason for this imbalance? Why is the Dollar in such high demand?
It is because Americans make stuff that is in high demand in the rest of the world. It is because
of high-value stuff being invented and sold by Americans, such as Boeing airplanes and Intel microprocessors. The rest of the world covets stuff made by Americans. This is the reason the Dollar is in such high demand. This is the reason the Dollar is worth a zillion pesos. This is the reason Americans are wealthy.
If Americans stopped making stuff that is coveted by the rest of the world, the value of the
Dollar will suddenly drop. Which means that everything that is imported will suddenly cost a lot more. Someone in China will no longer be willing to trade two days worth of his work for $20. Quality of life in USA will deteriorate. Americans will become poor.
In order to continue to be wealthy, Americans have to continue to make stuff that the rest of the
world covets. This means making the stuff that the rest of the world don't yet know how to make.
This means once the rest of the world catches up with American technology, Americans have to move
a notch up. Invent something better. Leave the old stuff and old jobs to the Indians and the Chinese.
Remember, the only reason Americans are wealthier is because Americans make stuff that Indians and
Chinese don't know how to make. When they catch up, Americans have to keep the lead by moving a notch up.
That is the only way to continue to be wealthy. You can't continue to be wealthy if you continue
making the same stuff even after the Indians and the Chinese and the Mexicans have caught up. Because if you do, why would they be willing to trade 2 days worth of their work for your $20? - Posted by: interlocutor Posted on: 10/04/04 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
