Because it has not happened in the US....
many Americans don't think it can happen here. I'm affaid it may take soup lines before people return thier trust to common sense. We are putting our economy at risk through the blind worship of free-trading economist and business leaders not figuring that they can be wrong. Low cost of goods is now the end-all of the economy. You hear alot of wise people warning of a major fiscal crisis in the US (eg. Paul Volker) in the near future.
