Greed is only one factor
Another angle to consider is dependence. We're dependent on foreign oil and you can see where that gets us. And, without really noticing, we've become dependent on foreign manufacturing. Even going so far as sending specialized machinery overseas. What happens when one of those little twit countries gets a chip on their shoulder about the US? Or a big country like China. We won't notice until it bites us in the butt like the '74 oil embargo. Not that we learned anything from that lesson.

And now we're outsourcing and becoming dependent on foreign mind share. Economists can kiss my butt. I'm more worried about the US being able to take care of itself than I am about some corporation having a few more pennies to throw at their shareholders.
