- I've already faced it. But as for you.....
-
MS could find the cure for every cancer in the world and you'd still come up with a way to call it crap. I'm sure it would go something like "Ballmer has not interest in people's lives. He just wants to try and keep more people alive and since Microsoft saved 100 million people's lives, he feels they will be indebted to him and all buy Windows. They would be better off dead".
I have already said I dislike Steve Ballmer, so that should mean something to you.
Secondly i was replying to a post that said this:
Absolute drivel. How does Ballmer get away with talking such utter nonsence.
"talking alot, but not saying anything."
I don't see any nonsense or talking on and on. It was very very short for a Baller interview. His replies were sometimes almost shorter than the lengthy questions by the cnet interviewer, you honestly didn't notice that?
He basically kept his mouth shut on everything, so how could it be "drivel"? And lastly, if you can read between the lines, he didn't sound overly optimistic about MS's future considering he feels 80% of the market will be mobile devices in the not too distant future. (he made that comment at CES but not in this interview, that I recall).
I thought that would make someone like you wet your pants with glee.
Now some facts. I worked with Unix for most of the 90s as a programmer and helping and learning the system at the admin level as well. When the company i worked for then dropped Unix, i was disappointed. I had put most of 10 years into learning every thing i could about Unix and C/C++ coding. We also had used a large Polyforth based system in which the source was open to the customer to change (only on site, no sharing of code). I had mastered that system as well and learned to program very well in it's Polyforth derivative.
That system was sunset by the vendor in 1999, they just couldn't get the whole system y2K ready.
I then decided I was going to work for myself. I had built relationships with area hospitals so I got contracts with a handful of hospitals and they happened to be Windows shops. That is the only reason I started using Windows professionally.
But I have to say, after using it for a number of years, it is in the long run the best system i've used for many things. There are areas where other OSes are stronger, but bottom line, at the end of the day, it was giving more return on investment for us. It was/is measurable. OSS simply doesn't have software at all levels of the stack like Windows and Apple is not ready for business in my mind.
They all have their strengths and weaknesses. I have an XP (7 years old) laptop and a Vista laptop in got a year ago wth Vista Ultimate and I love it. It's Vista x64 and it's a great OS.
The people on here that knock it, or MS or whatever regularly, not just those that voice real concerns about this or that, hell we would all voice many concerns about Apple and Linux based systems if we were using them as heavily, any objective intelligent person realizes that.
Singling out MS and making these mindless statements about how it's "crappy software" made by "Idiots" is what shows who has very little I.T. history or any objective thought to share with other people.
