Apple comes with everything = bad for developers
One selling point for Apple is that it already ships with a
lot of fully usable software and capabilities built into the
OS. I could imagine a home user being perfectly happy
with the built-ins (which include PDF
printing/manipulation, most of the functionality of Outlook
(mail/calendar/address), a minimalist text editor which
opens Word docs, etc) and Ilife (not included with the OS,
but ships with all new Macs). Add OpenOffice (now a
native Mac port) and you have your full word/xls/etc. The
only 3rd party "not seen this anywhere else" app I've seen
is ComicLife, and that's ported to Windows now, and (I
think) ships with new Macs. So - you can get a new Mac
and spend $0 on new software.

Of course this makes it hard for developers (at least
developers who work for profit). Not only are you devoting
yourself to a smaller market share, but also facing the
chance that your app (or its functionality) will get
incorporated into the OS.
