Knowledge Management
A great read--although I would would more clearly differentiate between data, information and knowledge. The three concepts are distinct, with actionable knowledge / business intelligence being the ultimate goal.

This article echoes what Dorothy Leonard wrote in "Wellsprings of Knowledge." Capabilities that start off providing a competitive advantage eventually morph into the ordinary costs of doing business; you can't compete without them, but they don't give you an edge over the competition.
