RE: Mobile industry calls for RFID payment push
Nokia already brought out two Series 40 handsets with this technology. But the readers were too pricey; the technology, too, was ahead of the times; and so it didn't catch on. Anyway, it was password-protected, to dispel any security concerns. Visa and MasterCard both have NFC-enabled payment cards. Smart cards using RFID already have wide applications in the transport and logistics industry, cargo terminals, gateways, or simply as identity passes and tickets. It's easier and contactless - so it's both ways in(secure)!
