You raise an interesting point. China's IT base are no fools. So the question is, if they have a choice between Linus for free, and a risky copy of Windows for three bucks a pop, why would they choose Windows? Surely they've evaluated both, and are still choosing Windows, even without tech support.

I'd like to see a survey of why (pirated) Microsoft has this level of brand loyalty.
