Its not about the Koran, its about you and us.

So, my desire is not to offend people, but to offer food for thought. Sony is an international company, with a Market Capitalization counted in the Billions(!!!) of dollars - the primary responsability of its decision makers is to increase the value of the company for its shareholders.

(One thing to consider...)To this end, Sony operates a music label that publishes certain Musical acts performing what some would regard as highly offensive music (because such operations are deeemed likely profitable.) It would seem reasonable to say that Sony will engage in business that some consider offensive, if that business is profitable.

Sony also publishes video games (again, as such operatations are deemed likely profitable.) So... it would seem reasonable that Sony would publish an offensive video game, IF it seemed the most profitable direction to follow. Thus, we can infer that Sony would also RECALL a video game IF it seemed the most profitable direction to follow. Sony has recalled an offensive (possibly - has any one actually complained?) video game - Sony must regard this as the most profitable action... why?

Do they fear losing a significant (more than the cost of the recall) amount of their target audience due to this music? It would seem unlikely.

Do they fear losing a significant(more than the cost of the recall) amount of money from militant reprisal attacks on their assets arising from this video game; even though other items Sony has produced have been offensive to various groups? It would seem unlikely (consider that Sony more likely than not has significant property insurance that would cover such loses.)

Do they stand to gain a significant (more than the cost of the recall) amount of free advertising, ink, and positive press for doing such a 'wonderfully wonderful' thing? I happen to think so. (For instance, you and I are talking/reading/writing about it right now.) I don't think marketing departments at MultiBillion dollar companies ignore this kind of opportunity.
